Logan Forsyth had his eye on a construction career while he was at school. So, he chose a Construction Foundation Apprenticeship in S5 to gain hands-on experience of the industry.

And Logan has a top tip for anyone else who’s considering a Foundation Apprenticeship to help kickstart their career.


I completed a Foundation Apprenticeship in civil engineering along with my other school subjects. I chose a Foundation Apprenticeship instead of a school subject to teach me where to work and how to work.The best part of a Foundation Apprenticeship is being part of a team. My top tip if you're going to apply for an apprenticeship is apply early.

A Foundation Apprenticeship paid off for Logan. The former Bannerman High pupil achieved over 90% in his graded unit – the highest in his group at Glasgow Kelvin College.  

Logan was driven to show others that dyslexia isn’t a barrier to a successful career. The teenager’s dedication was noted at the Scottish Apprenticeship Awards, making it to the final of the Foundation Apprentice of the Year category.

After he left school, Logan progressed on to a Graduate Apprenticeship. The Glaswegian is now an Apprentice Site Manager at GRAHAM and is on track to be a future leader within the business.
