Course description

Possessing the knowledge and skill to provide prompt and effective first aid is crucial for everyone and can be the decisive factor in a life-or-death situation. Are you a sports enthusiast or coach who wants to ensure you're always prepared in case of injury? This first aid training course covers the skills and knowledge required to respond effectively to sports-related injuries and emergencies. We start by explaining what ‘first aid’ means in a sporting environment and what a sports first aider does. We discuss how to deal with casualties and prepare for the arrival of emergency services (EMS). We teach you how to put on, remove and dispose of hand gloves to minimise the risk of infection while administering first aid. We then show you how to plan for emergencies and identify the items every sports first aid kit should include.

Have you ever felt helpless during someone's cardiac arrest? What causes a heart attack and how can it be handled? This is where cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) comes in. CPR raises the chances of survival by keeping the person's brain functioning after cardiac arrest. We explain how to conduct a primary survey and demonstrate how to perform CPR on both adults and children to save their lives. We also answer frequently asked questions about CPR and demonstrate how to use CPR with automated external defibrillation (AED) on adults and children. The course also teaches you how to provide emergency care in the event of drowning, dry drowning, heart attack, seizures and choking. This training will help you treat patients and keep them stable until EMS arrives. We also study the different types of bleeding and their treatments.

Finally, we teach you how to identify and treat common sports injuries, from minor cuts and bruises to severe head injuries. This course is designed to provide expert guidance and interactive materials to help you gain the knowledge and skills required to handle a variety of injuries that may occur on the sports field. We provide a wealth of reference information and tools to aid you in identifying and treating these injuries effectively in the ‘Resource’ section of the course. This first aid training course presents an opportunity to become a lifesaver on and off the field, empowering you to be the first line of defence in the event of emergencies. So whether you're a coach, parent or simply a concerned athlete, this course is essential for learning how to respond to sports emergencies promptly and effectively. Sign up for this first aid training course and be prepared to positively impact the safety and wellbeing of athletes in your community.
