Course overview
This Floristry Level 1 Award course is aimed at those seeking employment in floristry but who have no prior experience. This is a City & Guilds qualification and the units cover a range of practical designs for weddings, funerals and gift arrangements. These are constructed by hand tying, wiring or constructed in floral foam, a range of which will be gift-wrapped. You will learn how to identify a range of flowers and foliage in common commercial use, how to care for them and condition them ready for sale.
Course description
The course is made up of two units:
- Safe and effective working practices in land-based industries
- Assemble basic floral designs
Assessments will be continuous with a mix of practical and theoretical. The course includes an online multiple-choice exam in Health and Safety.
Part-time day classes are on Wednesdays from 9 am until 4pm.
Evening classes are on Tuesdays from 6pm until 9pm.
Entry requirements
- No previous experience is required for this course.
- Basic communication and numeracy skills are essential.
Basic Sundry items are included however we recommend a minimum of £20 per week for Sundries, accessories and fresh flowers.
