Course overview
Horticulture is a rewarding and sustainable career, so if you want to gain skills in horticulture and gardening, this course will help you gain a National Progression Award and an SVQ Level 1 certificate in Horticulture. You’ll learn about plant identification and care, as well as general landscaping skills in our fantastic purpose-built classrooms, workshops and glasshouses, preparing the groundwork for a career in gardening.
Course description
The course provides a mix of theoretical and practical skills with the emphasis on practical horticulture and gardening.
- An introduction to gardening skills
- An introduction to tools and machinery
- An Introduction to turf maintenance
- Prepare, create and maintain a landscape area
- Hard and soft landscaping
- Plant identification
- Plant health and propagation
Entry requirements
- Access 3, or equivalent in English and Numeracy; OR
- If you don't have formal qualifications but have relevant life and/or work experience, you are also invited to apply
- You should be aged 16 or over
