Course description

Learn while you work with Modern Apprenticeships (MAs) and Scottish Vocational Qualifications (SVQs). Modern apprenticeships in Scotland are available for people who are aged over 16 and in employment. With on-the-job training and regular meetings in the workplace you can gain a recognised qualification without studying full-time.  Funding for MAs can be gained from Skills Development Scotland.

This programme is for those already working in the construction industry.  Students will be working towards the PDA Carpentry and Joinery.

Contents include units such as: install second fixing components; erect timber frames (internal and external); ground and upper floor construction; woodworking and power tools; pitched roof construction and the construction skills health and safety test.

Entry requirements

You must be in relevant employment and we will undertake a construction skills test and interview.

Progression

You may be able to join PDA Carpentry and Joinery - SCQF Level 7.  This will enable you to add to your construction industry skillset, resulting in more employment opportunities.
