In this privacy notice we explain how we use and protect the information you give us when you use our website.

We use your information to deliver My World of Work because it’s part of our public duty to provide this service. This is justified under the lawful basis of Public Task of the UK GDPR – the processing is necessary for SDS to perform a task in the public interest or for our official functions (Article 6 (1)(e)).

However, for certain activities on our website, like marketing and use of cookies, we require your consent (Article 6(1)(a)).

This website (myworldofwork.co.uk) is run by The Skills Development Scotland Co. Limited, a company registered in Scotland with company number SC202659 and having its registered office at Monteith House, 11 George Square, Glasgow G2 1DY ("we" or "us").

When you register on our website, you give us the following information: 

  • your name 
  • email address 
  • postcode 
  • date of birth 
  • phone number (optional) 

We also collect:

  • information you provide as part of the “My achievements” and “My Profile” sections of the website, such as your achievements and qualifications  
  • information that you provide as part of the “CV Builder” tool, which can include your address and employment history.  
  • information that you provide when you subscribe to our services, email notifications, or newsletters. 
  • information that you provide when you arrange a telephone appointment with a careers adviser via this website such as your employment status and phone number 

We use your information to: 

  • run the website 
  • make your experience better by personalising the website 
  • let you use the services on the website 
  • send you general (non-marketing) messages 
  • send you newsletters and other marketing messages if you agreed to it (you can stop these anytime) 
  • answer your questions and handle complaints  
  • improve our services and website  
  • give you access to certain parts of the website  
  • provide you with effective careers information and advice 
  •  show your name and school on a leaderboard, as part of career games, if you agreed to it 
  • upload videos to our websites that feature named individuals, only when those individuals are aware and have consented to this

Our website has information about some of our programmes and gives you links to apply for them. If you apply for any of our programmes through the website, the information you give us will be subject to different privacy terms. This is because we might use your information in different ways and for different reasons.
