Course description
This course is designed to prepare you to enter higher education. It covers a variety of higher level subjects comprising 18 credits (care-related units and core skills) and the opportunity to experience and learn practical skills.
Learners will have an opportunity to study various subjects, including Human Development, Care Values and Principles, Social Influences, Mental Health and the Human Body.

Entry requirements
No formal qualifications are required. A SWAP programme could be for you if you have been out of education for 3 years.
Selection will be based on a satisfactory personal statement, qualifications, and written exercise.
All applicants will be considered individually.
Progression
There are 2 clear progression routes from this course:
- You can apply straight to university. This course may lead to degree courses in adult, mental health and learning disability nursing or children's nursing.
- You can apply to HNC Healthcare Practice or HNC Social Services. You must achieve all units, a good attendance record and a positive reference. (HNC may lead to the university courses identified above).
Please note this course will not lead to Midwifery.
