About the job
What it's like
This role is all about bringing power to exciting energy and electrical projects!
As a Distribution Network Operator (DNO) case worker, you’ll act as the link between a project and the national grid. Armed with electrical expertise, you’ll manage and progress applications to connect your organisation’s generators to the electricity network.
Let’s imagine you’re a DNO case worker for an offshore wind farm. Based onshore, you’ll handle the wind farm’s application to connect to the national grid. You’ll use your in-depth knowledge to make sure the project meets every technical and regulatory requirement needed for connection. DNO case workers also oversee the connection of the wind farm’s generated energy to the national grid.
Your tasks might include:
tracking and processing applications for connecting new generators to the national grid
checking technical drawings, network specifications and compliance documents before sending applications
working to make sure connections are delivered safely and on time
making sure proposals meet DNO and regulatory requirements
collaborating with stakeholders – including engineers, regulators and project managers – to make sure everyone has the information they need to progress the application
ensuring all connections, permits and changes comply with Ofgem regulations, DNO policies and safety standards
