Solar electrician
Play a vital role in growing the solar energy industry by installing, maintaining and repairing solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, which convert sunlight into electricity.

About the job
What it's like
Looking for a role where you'll use cutting-edge technology to bring clean energy to homes and businesses? As a solar electrician, you'll often work on large-scale or grid-tied systems that need advanced electrical expertise.
You'll focus on installing, maintaining and repairing solar power systems. You’ll work with solar panels, wiring and control systems, making sure everything runs safely and efficiently. This is a rewarding role because you’re helping people save money on energy bills and reducing carbon emissions at the same time.
You might fit solar panels on rooftops – troubleshooting electrical faults or upgrading existing systems. Solar electricians work in the renewable energy sector, construction and even in manufacturing. Some specialise in large-scale commercial projects. Others focus on residential installations or off-grid systems.
Your tasks might include:
installing solar panels and connecting them to electrical systems
testing and inspecting solar installations for safety and performance
diagnosing and repairing faults in solar power systems
upgrading older solar equipment to improve efficiency
advising customers on how to use and maintain systems
keeping detailed records of work and system performance
